Knights of Columbus to hold six fish fry dinners during Lent at St. Elizabeth Seton in Carmel

Submitted

It’s one of the biggest crowd-pleasing fish fry events in Carmel and it happens every year during Lent.

This year’s Knights of Columbus (Council 12387) Fish Fry will kick off Friday, Feb. 20, and run for the next five Fridays (Feb. 27, March 6, 13, 20, and 27). The Knights will serve thousands of pounds of delicious fish to thousands of hungry visitors.

The “All You Can Eat” style of Fish Fry dinners is available from 5 to 7:30 p.m. each of those Fridays during Lent, and the event is open to the public. In addition to traditional sit-down dinners inside the Church, the Knights also offer curbside pick-up for those in a hurry.

St. Elizabeth Seton is located at the intersection of 106th Street and Haverstick Road in Carmel.

Cost for the all-you-can-eat fried Pollock dinner is $14, and includes French fries, applesauce, coleslaw, a cookie, and iced tea or lemonade. Baked salmon with a flavorful marinade is available for $17, and New England Style Crab Cakes are $18. Both meals include green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, a cookie, and iced tea or lemonade. The menu also includes a shrimp cocktail appetizer for $6, cup of clam chowder for $4, and a slice of cheesecake with strawberry sauce for $4.

A children’s macaroni and cheese meal and individual cheese pizza with drink ($5 each) and       a Kid’s Fish meal is available for $6 each for kids 12 and under.

“We feel honored and blessed to offer these delicious dinners not only to our parishioners, but to visitors who come for a great meal and fellowship,” said Larry Schulz, publicity chairman for the event. “In fact, a good percentage of the people who attend our fish dinners are from outside of the parish.”

All of the money raised by the Knights of Columbus go toward charitable programs including local food pantries, Gibault Home for troubled youths, seminarian activities, Pro-Life activities, Rosaries for soldiers, and a variety of other community projects.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming Fish Fry dates: Feb. 20 and 27, and March 6, 13, 20, and 27.

Doors open in the Church Social Hall at 5 p.m. and service continues until 7:30 p.m.  Take-out and drive-up service is also available.

Join the Knights of Columbus at St. Elizabeth Seton and enjoy some Hoosier hospitality at the parish during one or more of the six Lenten Fish Fry dinners. You’ll be glad you came!
