First Farmers Bank & Trust appoints Robert Burtner to senior leadership role

First Farmers Bank & Trust has hired Robert Burtner as Senior Vice President, Commercial Markets Regional Lending Manager and Director of Commercial Participations.

In this role, Burtner will lead commercial lending strategies across Carmel, Terre Haute, Kokomo, and Marion while overseeing the growth and management of commercial loan participations.

Burtner earned both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management & Business Information Systems from Anderson University. He brings more than a decade of banking and financial leadership experience, with a strong background in commercial lending, credit risk management, and portfolio oversight. Throughout his career, he has managed multi-billion-dollar lending portfolios, implemented innovative credit and risk rating systems, and led high-performing teams to deliver exceptional client service.

His expertise spans commercial and industrial (C&I) lending, SBA lending, investment real estate financing, construction lending, private equity lending, and HUD and GSE construction lending and servicing. Burtner has also chaired loan committees, developed policies to align with regulatory standards, and enhanced operational efficiencies to better serve clients and communities.
