Enjoy best of art, shopping, music this weekend at Meet Me on Main in Carmel

Come to the Carmel Arts & Design District from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 for Allied Solutions’ Meet Me on Main. Make your way to Main Street and Range Line Road for an evening of art, shopping, music, and more.

Meet Me on Main is the City of Carmel’s monthly “second Saturday” event to highlight local galleries, restaurants and design-related businesses in the District. Art galleries and businesses will feature special events specially planned to enhance the art and design-related features of the District.

Carmel City Council President Kevin “Woody” Rider and Clay Township Board member Mary Eckard will be joined by members of the Carmel Public Art Advisory Committee, the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Human Relations, sculptor Dominic Benhura, Kuaba Gallery owner Jayne During, and other city officials in celebration of the unveiling of Benhura’s sculpture at the corner of Main Street and Veterans Way next to the Carmel Chocolate Café, at 5 p.m.

There will be a reception at Kuaba Gallery, 404 W. Main St., immediately following and the public is welcome to attend.

Art on Main Gallery & Gifts

Art on Main Gallery & Gifts, 111 W. Main St., Suite 140. This month, the front room exhibit will feature mixed media and digital photography by Andrea Mauer and Mike McKinley. To celebrate the month of May and the Indy 500, there will be black and white prints, jewelry, coasters and glass art. Also, there will be plenty of colorful spring art including flower paintings, soaps, candles, charcuterie boards and more.

CCA Gallery & Gifts

CCA Gallery, 111 W. Main St., Suite 135. The CCA Gallery is featuring two artists – printmaking by David O’Dell and woodworks by David Brandzel. Come by the gallery to meet both artists during the “Meet the Artists” reception from 5 to 8 p.m. and discover how they create their amazing work.

Indiana Artisan Gallery

Indiana Artisan Gifts & Gallery, 22 N. Range Line Road. Meet painter Craig Whitten at the gallery and watch him paint from 5 to 9 p.m. Whitten uses the word “spontaneity” in conversations about nature, art and the way he views both. “The spontaneity of watercolor is a perfect correlation to the spontaneity of nature to me.” Known for his crisp, clean koi and bird paintings, Whitten says that everything he does with his art comes from a place of an emotional experience.

Magdalena Gallery of Arts

Magdalena Gallery of Arts, 27 E. Main St., #100. Drop by and see abstract artist Cristina Nunez who currently works out of her studio in Columbia, Mo., but has had exhibitions in numerous countries around the world including Argentina, South Korea, Spain, England and China.

Construction continues on 1st Avenue NW north of Main Street. Please continue to drive with caution. Access to the Sophia Square parking garage is open.
