Les Arts Florissants: Vivaldi’s Four Seasons at 300
Sunday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.
Payne & Mencias Palladium
Founded in 1979, Les Arts Florissants is an ensemble of singers and instrumentalists specialized in the performance of Baroque music on period instruments. The ensemble is joined by fast-rising violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte for Vivaldi’s Four Seasons at 300, commemorating the original 1725 publication of one of the most popular works in Western music. The program frames these iconic masterpieces afresh, setting them alongside music of Monteverdi and Uccellini, composers who influenced Vivaldi’s approach, as well as compositions inspired by his bold vision.

An Intimate Evening with JJ Grey & Mofro
Sunday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
Payne & Mencias Palladium
From his early days playing cover songs behind chicken wire at a west side Jacksonville juke joint to playing sold-out shows at some of the largest venues and music festivals in the world, JJ Grey has always delivered his soul-honest truths. Since his first album, Blackwater, back in 2001, Grey has been releasing deeply moving, masterfully written, funkified rock and front porch Southern soul music.
With his 10th album Olustee, released last year, Grey is back, singing his personal stories with universal themes of redemption, rebirth, hard luck, and inner peace. Grey’s songs are steeped in the mythical Southern stories of his ancestral Florida home and filled with people from his own life. His message is simple and strong – respect the natural world and always try to live in the moment. And never forget the importance of having a good time!
