The Indiana District Export Council (IDEC) will hold a half-day seminar from 11:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 devoted to advancing trade between Indiana’s largest trading partners, Mexico and Canada, at Newfields Art Museum, 4000 N. Michigan Road, Indianapolis.
Speakers include the General Consuls for Canada and Mexico, leaders from Eli Lilly, Lafayette Instrument, Wood-Mizer, Cook Medical, Greater Indianapolis Foreign Trade Zone (INzone), Indiana University, Faegre Drinker, Indy Chamber / Hispanic Business Council, DHL, and more.
Indiana is now the eighth largest exporting state in the nation, and seventh in the number of jobs directly tied to exporting at over 173,000. Indiana’s export growth is more than twice that of the state’s GDP, reinforcing IDEC’s mission to advance export development as one of the most powerful tools to increase jobs and to grow the state’s and nation’s economy.
The combined GDP of Canada and Mexico is over $4.3 trillion, making the United States’ neighbors jointly the fourth-largest economy on Earth, following the U.S., the European Union, and China.
Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite at the early bird rate of $55 through April 18. General admission tickets for $75 will be available through noon on May 7. Due to the event including lunch, registration will not be available at the door.
Seminar sponsors include the Indiana University Center for International Business Education and Research (IU CIBER), Faegre Drinker, Foreign Targets, Inc., Forvis Mazars, Indiana Manufacturers Association, The International Center, and INzone.
