The Carmel Symphony Orchestra completed its 2022-23 season last Saturday with a rousing tribute to the Queen of Soul. The show contained many songs that were essentially covers of covers, in which vocalists performed their version of Aretha Franklin’s version of hit songs. Respect – A Tribute to Aretha Franklin was live in the Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel. Four veteran Broadway voices – Tamika Lawrence, Shaleah Adkisson, Melvin Tunstall III, and John Boswell – joined the orchestra in an inspiring, exuberant performance of the songs made famous by the first woman inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Information about the 2023-24 CSO season will be announced later this month.
