The Hamilton Heights girls cross country put together a historic achievement last Saturday at the Hoosier Conference meet.
The Huskies won the meet, placing all six of their runners in the top 16 to score 44 points. Heights ended the decades-long reign of West Lafayette, which had won the meet for the past 27 consecutive years. The Red Devils placed third with 64 points, with Western scoring 57 points to earn the runner-up position.
Anna Monnin was the Huskies’ top finisher, placing fourth in a time of 20 minutes, 17.2 seconds. Allie Bushey followed in sixth place, clocking in at 20:29.3. Kendall Moe was ninth in 20:42.5. Julianna Springman took 12th (20:55.6), Ayla Madara was 13th (21:02.1), Mary Ella Bichey was 15th (21:08.1) and Amira Leer placed 16th (21:26.3).
Hamilton Heights’ boys team placed sixth in its division, totaling 125 points. Rudy Bowman earned a top 10 finish, taking ninth in 17:10.1. Isaiah Heuer was next in line by finishing 12th in 17:29.3.
Other Huskies runners were Aiden Clarke (32nd, 18:40.4), Hudson Holt (35th, 18:53.6), Charles Wedmore (37th, 19:02.1), Jackson Cantlon (48th, 19:54.6) and Max Bowman (52nd, 20:49.5).

The Carmel boys won the Delta Invitational last Saturday at Taylor University.
The Greyhounds scored 24 points and had three of the top four finishers. Jonah Kaul won the race in 16:13.30, followed by Joel Spittal in second, with a time of 16:20.11. Eli Gomez placed fourth in 16:23.00. Will Gilhooly finished seventh (16:26.30) and Josh Cale was 10th (16:43.80).
Other Carmel finishers were Deklin Bowser (18th, 17:09.50), Julien Gourgue (19th, 17:13.40), Ben Meisner (22nd, 17:19.80), Joey Arroyo (23rd, 17:21.60), Cohen Levy (29th, 17:50.60) and Hayden Nagel (30th, 17:51.30).

Sheridan had one runner compete in each division at the Hoosier Heartland Conference meet last Saturday at Rossville.
Liam Grinstead placed 57th in the boys race, finishing in a time of 28:46.4. Murphy Buskirk placed 27th in the girls race, in a time of 32:46.4.
