Cross country: HSE boys, Carmel girls win Flashrock meet

Two Hamilton County teams were victorious at the Athletic Annex Flashrock Invitational Saturday, Sept. 20 at Northview Church in Carmel.

Hamilton Southeastern won the boys race, scoring 50 points to finish comfortably ahead of runner-up Homestead’s 60 points. The Royals also had the individual race winner: Liam Powers cruised to victory in a time of 15 minutes, 6.87 seconds.

Isaac Smith also placed in the top 10 for Southeastern, taking sixth by clocking in at 15:36.98. Other Royals runners were: 14. Monroe Cluff 16:02.83, 16. Hayden Hoback 16:07.28, 20. Westfield placed fourth with 140 points. Luke Moulder led the Shamrocks with an 18th-place finish in 16:09.97, with Bryce Pittman right behind him in 19th place, at 16:10.24.

GIRLS RACE

Carmel’s girls team picked up a solid victory in that division. The Greyhounds scored 68 points for the team championship, with Homestead scoring 93 points to finish as runner-up.

Carmel got a 2-3 finish from Annabel Pollert, who placed second in 17:22.05, and Larkin Taylor, who finished third in 17:37.49. Pendleton Heights’ Anya Zoeller was the race winner in 17:12.07.
