The boys swimming post-season began Thursday with the sectional prelims, and every team in Hamilton County had something to be happy about by the end of the evening.

At the Noblesville sectional, three local schools qualified all 27 of their swims to Saturday’s sectional finals. Carmel, the eight-time defending state champion, sent 26 of its swims to the championship heat (“A” Final), with one swim going to the consolation heat (“B” Final).

The Millers did the same, with 26 swims into the championships and one into the consols. Westfield qualified nine swims to the championship heat, with the other 18 going to the consolations.

The Greyhounds earned the top seed in all 11 swimming events. Aaron Shackell and Sean Sullivan both picked up two first seeds: Shackell finished first in the 200 and 500 freestyles, with Sean Sullivan getting the top seed in the 50 and 100 freestyles.

Other Carmel first seeds are Gregg Enoch in the individual medley, Andrew Shackell in the butterfly, Nicholas Plumb in the backstroke and Brandon Malicki in the breaststroke. All three of the Greyhounds’ relays qualified first as well: Sullivan, Malicki, Aaron Shackell and Ryan Roop in the medley; Andrew Shackell, Roop, AJ Robertson and Malicki in the 200 free relay, and Andrew Shackell, Plumb, Lewis Zhang and Robertson in the 400 free relay.
