Close IS good enough in Sheridan

The Sheridan Horseshoe League will soon be starting their 43rd year.

Men and women around the state over 12 years of age can participate in the sport.

The Sheridan league has participants come from as far as Kokomo to pitch one evening each week. The league holds three tournaments each year.

The first tournament will be on May 13 and is sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts. The Sheridan Horseshoe League will hold their organizational meeting at the courts in Biddle’s Memorial Park Tuesday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. Rain or shine, the season starts May 9.

The league is much like a bowling league. You establish a handicap, determined by your average. So even if you are a first-time pitcher it gives everyone a chance.

Horseshoe pitching is a good outdoor, social sport, and a great way to meet new people. Several of the members will be at the courts Saturday, April 22 from 9-11 a.m. with a rain date of April 29.
