Scouts and adults from Cub Scout Pack 103 and Boy Scouts Troop 103 spent the past two weekends participating in the annual Scouting for Food campaign. On April 17, tags were placed on front doors across Cicero and any non-perishable food donations left on porches were collected on Saturday.

Scouts know how fortunate they are to have a warm meal every night – whether around the campfire or at the kitchen table – and they also know not everyone is so lucky. Scouts all across the nation do their part to help address this problem in their local communities through this annual food drive. It also helps to strengthen Scouts’ ties to the community and most importantly, Scouts have fun doing it.

Combined, there were eight Cub Scouts, eight Boy Scouts and 16 adults who participated over the two weekends for a total of 89 service hours. The Cicero community responded with over 1,200 items that were donated to Sacred Heart Food Pantry, at the corner of Pearl and Neal streets in Cicero.

On Sunday, May 2, Pack 103 and Troop 103 will play co-host to a free fishing event at Red Bridge Park with the Crossroad of America Council and Indiana DNR. The community is invited to join the Scouts from 1 to 4 p.m. to fish, learn more about Scouting, be outdoors and have an exciting time.

Pack and Troop 103 are chartered at Cicero United Methodist Church. For more information on Cicero Scouting programs, visit ciceroscouts.org.
