In anticipation of the celestial spectacle on Monday, April 8 when the Moon will cast its shadow upon the Earth, the Cicero Parks Department, in collaboration with the Friends of Lights Over Morris Lake, is offering complimentary solar eclipse glasses.

Citizens are encouraged to join the community in witnessing this astronomical event, where the Sun, Moon, and Earth align in a rare total eclipse, observable at precisely 3:06 p.m.

In preparation for the event, the Parks Department invites the public to visit Red Bridge Park during the Spring Marketplace from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 to collect protective eyewear for their families.

Authorities stress the importance of using these specialized glasses to safeguard one’s vision during the eclipse – a crucial measure for those who wish to enjoy such marvels of the cosmos now and at the next occurrence in 2044. Get them before they run out as they have a limited supply.
