Charles “Chuck” Schott

January 29, 1941 – February 20, 2022

Charles “Chuck” Schott, 81, Carmel, passed away on February 20, 2022. He was born on January 29, 1941, to Charles and Helen (Kenney) Schott in Ottawa, Ill.

Chuck attended Marquette High School and earned both his undergraduate degree and MBA at Xavier University. His professional career began in education. First at Streator High School and later at Waubonsee Community College, both in Illinois. He then transitioned to the business world working in operations management and consulting in a career that spanned more than 30 years. During that time, Chuck met many wonderful, talented people across multiple cities in the U.S. Through his work, he also spent extended periods of time in Europe, which were some of his fondest professional memories. After retiring to Florida in 2005, Chuck returned to his educational roots and taught history at Saint Anne’s School in Naples for two years. He was proud of the relationships he cultivated with his colleagues and students over the years. The privilege of having been a mentor to so many people and seeing the positive impact he had in their lives brought him great joy.

Susan Jane Moore, his wife of 53 years, was the love of his life. Chuck placed great importance on family and was very involved in the lives of his sons, often taking on the role of coach for their sports teams.

Chuck enjoyed travelling and took up cooking in retirement. He was a passionate supporter of the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame football, and Arsenal Football Club. Chuck was also an avid history buff and runner. His greatest pleasure in life, however, was visiting with his sons and enjoying time with their families, especially his grandchildren. Chuck was an active presence in their lives with frequent visits and FaceTime calls.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Schott of Carmel; sons, Brian (Meera) Schott of Chicago, Ill., and Stephen (Jenny) Schott of Cumming, Ga.; four grandchildren, Olivia, Sana, Alex and Molly; brothers, Terry (Carol) Schott of Manitowish Waters, Wis., and Stephen Schott of San Francisco, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Richard Horton of Carmel.

A Memorial Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak St., Zionsville.
