Locally-owned Chariot Automotive Group (CAG) is launching the Chariot Automotive Institute.

Chariot Automotive Institute is an educational and career development program created by CAG, offering accredited certifications and degrees in the fields of automotive technology and sales for participants ranging from high school students to tenured professionals in the automotive field. The incoming high school juniors and seniors will learn automotive skills in a hands-on training environment, which will start in August.

CAG held a signing day on Wednesday afternoon at Academy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 6002 W. Field Drive, Tipton. Incoming Chariot Automotive Institute students attend high schools in Hamilton and Tipton counties, including Westfield, Noblesville, Sheridan, Hamilton Heights, and Tipton. They enjoyed a meet and greet with program leaders at the event. Other attendees included Ivy Tech leadership, Indiana Department of Workforce Development officials, and state and local legislators.

The Chariot Automotive Institute is a new collaboration between CAG and Ivy Tech Community College in Kokomo. The program offers hands-on training opportunities to high school juniors and seniors, who will earn college credit toward an associate degree in automotive technology.

The Chariot Automotive Institute is the first step in a talent pipeline program through CAG – the Automotive Technician Education Pathway, or ATEP – which includes an apprenticeship program and opportunities for part-time and summer employment. Through ATEP, students are provided paid tuition for the associate degree and will be offered a full-time auto tech position at one of CAG’s four dealerships after they complete the program.

Post-high school candidates who are involved in ATEP participate in the accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship program. Current Chariot employees also have the opportunity for continued career development through the ATEP program.
