Celebrate rich history of Negro Leagues with Indianapolis Indians

The REPORTER/WISH-TV

The Indians are saluting the Negro Leagues and its rich history in Indianapolis with Negro Leagues Week from now through Saturday, June 24 at Victory Field. Players and coaches will wear Indianapolis ABCs jerseys and caps while the visiting Columbus Clippers will sport Columbus Blue Birds jerseys on-field to celebrate the second year of Minor League Baseball’s “The Nine” initiative, bringing awareness to the impact and contributions made by Black ballplayers on the game of baseball.

The homestand began with Tuesday Dollar Menu and the start of the ABCs jersey auction that benefits Indianapolis Indians Charities and continues through the end of the seventh inning on June 24. Following a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader and Thirsty Thursday™, the weekend promises more excitement with Friday Fireworks and a Kids Eat Free Sunday on June 25 to wrap the series.
