The Carmel wrestling team finished fifth at the IHSWCA Team State Duals, which took place Saturday in Fort Wayne.
The Greyhounds beat Penn in their first dual 52-9, then lost to Brownsburg 39-12 in their second match. Carmel edged out Mishawaka 36-35 in its third match, getting three pins, a forfeit and a technical fall to build up a lead, then held on as the Cavemen attempted a comeback. The ‘Hounds beat Perry Meridian 33-25 in their fourth and final match of the day.
Gabe Davin went 4-0 at 170 pounds for Carmel, while six other wrestlers – Suhas Chundi, Brac Hooper, AJ Gunn, Joey Langeman, Brendan Mattingly and Jake Shafer – all had 3-1 tournaments.
