The first all-Hamilton County baseball game of the 2025 season went to Carmel.
The Greyhounds hosted Noblesville Tuesday at Hartman Field to begin their season and won 8-5. Carmel scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the first inning: Parker Heaney’s left field base hit sent JD Stein home.
The Millers took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third after Trevor Corbett’s center field single brought in Aiden Reynolds and Garrett Dixon. The ‘Hounds answered that with two runs in the bottom of the third, with Stein scoring on an error and Jackson Harris smacking a double to send Evan Vogt home.
Carmel went up 6-2 in the fourth inning when Vogt sent a three-run double into left field. Stein, Andrew Back and Gabe Mathison all scored; Back hit a one-out double to get on base.
Noblesville got a run back in the fifth inning; Corbett scored after Tanner Miller reached on error. Stein struck again in the bottom of the fifth, as he hit a line drive to score Back.

In the sixth inning, Miller singled Jalen Stidham home to score for Noblesville, then Mathison got home on a Harris RBI groundout. Mathison led off the bottom of the sixth with a double. The Millers got one more run in the seventh inning, when Stidham batted in Luke Haselkamp with a line drive.
Vogt finished the game with two hits for Carmel. Cole Caldwell got the pitching win, with four strikeouts over three innings. Callaway Carmichael had five strikeouts over two innings.
Corbett had two hits, with Hagelskamp hitting a double. Eli Hall threw eight strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings.
The Greyhounds play at Covenant Christian on Thursday.

Noblesville opened its season with a tough game at Center Grove on Monday. The Class 4A No. 2 Millers lost to the 4A No. 1 Trojans 1-0.
Center Grove scored its run in the third inning on an RBI sacrifice fly. Meanwhile, the Trojans held Noblesville to two hits, one each from Joe Glander and Cole Schott. Beckett Doane pitched four innings, striking out seven and allowing just three hits.
The Millers are 0-2 and begin their Tennessee trip on Thursday, playing at Clarksville Academy.

Westfield beat Franklin Central 6-1 Tuesday in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game that also opened the Shamrocks’ season.
Johnny Ewing singled in the first Westfield run, with a right field hit to bring in Nick Fero. Caden Lindsey hit a fourth-inning sacrifice fly to score Fero’s second run. The ‘Rocks added four runs in the sixth inning: Matt Drozlek doubled in Anthony Cimini and Lindsey, then Beck Jordan’s right field single brought Drozlek and Lincoln Hoffman home.
Jackson Blevins pitched four innings for the win, striking out five.
Westfield hosts Franklin Central this afternoon to complete the HCC series.

Guerin Catholic rolled past Frankton 10-0 in six innings Tuesday to begin its season.
The Golden Eagles collected eight hits, including two from Ben Canada, a single and a double. Luke Gremelspacher hit a two-RBI single in the third inning, while Finn Holden also hit a double in the same inning.
Tate Troxell went four innings for the win, striking out 11.
Guerin Catholic hosts Warren Central on Thursday.

University opened its season Monday by beating Wayne County (Ky.) 12-2 in five innings at the Legacy Project event in Panama City, Fla.
Cooper Cammack, fresh off playing with the Trailblazers’ boys basketball team in the Class 2A state championship game last Saturday, scored University’s first run of the game when Philip Jacobs singled to left field. Wayne County scored both of its runs in the top of the fifth inning, but the Blazers came back and ended the game with 11 runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Cammack smacked a two-run single to push University ahead 3-2, then scored on an error. Finn Steiner hit a two-run single before scoring on a wild pitch. Griffin Wright got home on a bases-loaded walk, then Beckett Suh cleared the bases with a right field, three-run double. Suh scored to end the game when Cammack reached on error.
Ryan Castetter, Cammack, Charlie Ranek and Jacobs all had two hits, with Cammack hitting a triple.
On Tuesday, University played George Rogers Clark (Ky.) and lost 7-6.
The Blazers scored four runs in the top of the second inning. Ranek got the first run after Sterling Davis hit a sacrifice fly, then Cooper Burnett was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Castetter singled in Hunter Canning, then Oliver Kingery scored after Suh was hit by a pitch, again with the bases loaded.
Clark scored a run in the bottom of the second, poured in four runs in the third inning and added another run in the fourth inning to lead 6-4. University tied the game in the top of the sixth after Suh singled in Caleb Stocker, then Kingery scored on a pitcher’s balk. But Clark won the game in the seventh inning with a walk-off triple.
University continues play at the Legacy Project today.

Hamilton Southeastern dropped a 3-2 game to Columbus North on Tuesday in the Royals’ season-opener at their own Ken Seitz Field.
The Bull Dogs scored all three of their runs in the first inning. Southeastern scored both of its runs in the bottom of the sixth. Maddux Bach got home on an error, then Deacon Lewis scored on Ty Earlewine’s RBI groundout.
The Royals were held to three hits, one each from Bach, Michael Hoog and Isaiah Hamilton. Dylan Cope pitched three innings, striking out five and allowing just three hits.
Southeastern heads to Tennessee this weekend, playing two games at Dickson County, Tenn. on Friday. The Royals play Mount Juliet at 2 p.m. and Dickson County at 4:30 p.m.
