Carmel city officials invite the public to attend a special street sign dedication honoring Carmel’s international Sister Cities relationships.
The brief ceremony is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, during the Carmel Farmers Market. It will highlight the city’s ongoing commitment to global partnership, cultural exchange, and economic connection.
The dedication will take place along the Monon Trail at the southeast corner of the grounds of the Payne & Mencias Palladium.
Mayor Sue Finkam and Sister Cities representatives will share brief remarks celebrating these diplomatic and community ties:
- Martin Baier, President & CEO, The International Center
- Andris Berzins, Sister Cities and International Affairs Consultant
- Raju Chinthala, Founder & President, Indiana India Business Council (Representing Visakhapatnam, India)
- Sandi Richardson, Carmel Sister Cities Committee (Representing Seiffen, Germany)
- City officials and community leaders
Carmel’s Sister City relationships include active partnerships with Cortona (Italy), Jelgava (Latvia), Kawachinagano (Japan), Rueil-Malmaison (France), Seiffen (Germany) and Visakhapatnam (India).
