Carmel to present Climate Action Plan workshops

The City of Carmel will present a series of three virtual Climate Action Plan workshops to discuss the results of an in-depth study of local emissions and what strategies can be implemented to make improvements.

The first session will take place at 6:30 p.m. this evening. Another will be held at noon on Thursday, May 14, and a final workshop will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 17. All three workshops will be available on Zoom. Please click here for more information and to complete the survey and registration.

These workshops will be presented by Miranda Frausto, the Sustainability Intern for the City of Carmel. All workshops are held in partnership with Carmel Green Initiative. Please email your questions to mfrausto@carmel.in.gov.

With this Climate Action Plan, Carmel city officials will seek to set out a “roadmap” to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote community resilience. Carmel’s plan will include inventories of existing emissions that measured Carmel’s environmental impact from a variety of factors, including energy use, transportation and other factors. The plan will serve as a guide to identify the most effective strategies to reduce emissions.

Community engagement, feedback and collaboration are essential elements in this process. This series of workshops are designed to share Carmel’s sustainability progress, the results of the emissions inventories and to gather feedback from the community.

These are open to anyone interested in greenhouse gas reduction, environmental stewardship, resilience, energy efficiency, social prosperity, community empowerment, sustainability and cost effectiveness.

The perspective of many community members and groups is essential. No background knowledge is required. All workshops will be the same format, so choose the workshop that works best for your schedule.
