Carmel summer road construction updates

The City of Carmel, in its continuing efforts to improve its infrastructure and communications, has provided the following updates to share from the Engineering Department. Below is a summary of highlighted projects.

On or after Tuesday, May 28, construction for a new roundabout will begin at the intersection of Hazel Dell Parkway and East 106th Street. Traffic traveling north and south will be maintained throughout the duration of this work, with limited access to East 106th Street during all phases of work. This roundabout is estimated to be complete in the fall of 2024.

On or after Tuesday, May 28, the Hamilton County Highway Department will reconstruct the Cherry Tree Road bridge over the Emily Vestal Ditch. A new sidewalk will be added between Streamside Drive and Klingensmith Boulevard. Expect a full closure of Cherry Tree Road between the end of May and the end of September.

On or after Tuesday, May 28, Haverstick Road will have a full closure just south of Rolling Springs Drive, for approximately five days to rebuild the culvert.

On or after, Friday, May 31, the Indiana Department of Transportation will conduct bridge resurfacing over U.S. 31 in the following locations:

  • West 111th Street, from Illinois Street to Pennsylvania Parkway, will begin on or after Friday, May 31 and be completed on Monday, June 3.
  • West Carmel Drive, from Illinois Street to Pennsylvania Parkway, will begin on or after Friday, June 21 and be completed Monday, July 8. Work will take place during the weekends only, from Fridays at 9 p.m. to Mondays at 6 a.m.
  • West Main Street, from Illinois Street to Pennsylvania Parkway, will begin on or after Friday, July 12 and be completed by Monday, July 22. Work will take place during the weekends only, from Fridays at 9 p.m. to Mondays at 6 a.m.
  • West 136th Street and Smoky Row, work will begin in August (schedule to come)
