The Rotary Club of Carmel concluded Leadership Connection 2023 last Friday, Oct. 27, which was attended by over 170 Carmel and Indianapolis students.

Rotary Club of Carmel President Arnold Elston had the following message for Leadership Connection Chairman, Tim Flint, and Vice Chairman, Louise Jackson:

“You and your team did an OUTSTANDING job. The work you did provided hope in the lives of the young people that participated in Leadership Connection and the volunteers. Thank you for putting a smile on my face!”

Leadership Connection is a branded event of the Rotary Club of Carmel in partnership with iTeam Think Tank, Carmel Clay Schools, Carmel Fire Department, Christel House Watanabe Manual High School, and Pro/Act Indy. Title sponsor was OneAmerica.

Two important elements of this year’s event were a day of community service on Sept. 14 where students learned about, volunteered for, and gave presentations on four non-profits (Food4Soul, Hamilton County Youth Assistance Program, Mission2Connect, and Outside the Box) and expansion of the Portee Leadership Connection Scholarship program.

Each participating non-profit received a check for $500 from Leadership Connection and the Rotary Club of Carmel, while five graduating seniors who attended this year’s event will receive laptop computers and $2,000 scholarships. Awards are based on both merit and need.

Since its inception in 2021, Leadership Connection has impacted more than 350 Carmel and Indianapolis inner-city high school juniors and seniors in tandem with 100 business, community, and non-profit executives and leaders.

The mission of Leadership Connection is “We connect today’s leaders to ignite future leaders in building a stronger community.”
