Ashley Klein captured more than 70 percent of the votes to declare victory in Tuesday’s Democratic primary race to represent Indiana House District 39.
“Thank you to all the Carmel voters who participated in this election,” Klein said. “I’m honored to have the community’s support as the Democratic nominee for House District 39.”
She received 4,964 votes, or 70.5 percent, with all precincts reporting.
Klein’s campaign was a grassroots effort that engaged volunteers from across the district, which includes most of Carmel. Her strong digital campaign also energized supporters.
The first-time candidate earned several key endorsements leading up to the primary: State Reps. Ed Delaney and Carey Hamilton, Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, and 25 Women for 2020.
Klein says she is committed to fighting to make the future better for all Hoosiers. She promises to represent her constituents and work across party lines to pass legislation that strengthens a fair economic recovery, improves public education, protects the environment, and promotes common sense gun safety laws.
“As we face these unprecedented challenges, I believe we can and should make life better for families across our state,” Klein said.
