On Monday, July 13, a seasoned communications strategist joined the City of Carmel as Director of Marketing and Community Relations.
Erin Murphy will oversee city branding, media relations and public information, events, and event sponsorships, supporting outreach to residents, visitors, and businesses, along with oversight of communications to city team members and partners.
A Hamilton County resident, Murphy most recently served as Purdue University’s senior director of media and public relations. Prior roles include press secretary to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and communications director for the City of Westfield. She was a television anchor and reporter for more than a decade earlier in her career.
“Erin brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role,” Mayor Sue Finkam said. “She will enhance our support to residents and businesses as part of a strategic and cohesive outreach plan. She has a demonstrated track record of success and we look forward to her bringing her experience to the City of Carmel.”
Murphy holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in public relations from Ball State University.
