Carmel golf stays perfect with Woodland victory, Millers win dual with Cathedral

Carmel ran its record to 85-0 by winning the Woodland Invitational Wednesday at Woodland Country Club.
The Greyhounds carded a team score of 293. Luke Prall was the meet medalist with a 68, with Jack Crawford scoring a 72.
Guerin Catholic finished third with a 314; Ty Gingerich led the Golden Eagles with a 73. Westfield placed fourth with a 325; Ethan Lutz was the Shamrocks’ low man with a 79.

Noblesville won an 18-hole dual meet with Cathedral Wednesday at Purgatory Golf Club.
The Millers carded a team score of 295 to the Irish’s 318. Clay Merchent was the meet medalist with a four-under par 68, while Joe Whallon had an even-par 72. Jacob Deakyne scored 74. Other Noblesville scores were Jaxon Stutz 81, Reed Murray 90, Keenan Bowman 91 and Will Perkins 99.
“Very nice to a win against a top 10 team like Cathedral,” said Noblesville coach Gary Sewell. “Clay was solid again and Joe played steady all day.”
