The Carmel girls soccer team cruised to a 3-0 win over Zionsville Saturday at Murray Stadium.
The Class 3A No. 4 Greyhounds scored all of their goals in the first half. Kelsie James got the first goal, assisted by Elyse Reed. Emily Speidel then scored off a double assist from Ashley Witucki and Elizabeth Hargis, then Emily Roper put in the third goal, with Hargis and Carly Jessup assisting.
Erin Baker had two goalkeeper saves, with Melia Montgomery making one.
“Zionsville came into tonight’s game down both a starting and a backup goalkeeper plus a starting back,” said Carmel coach Frank Dixon. “I thought that even with substitutes at those positions the Eagles played well but were just out matched by our depth. We were able to play most of our players which is always a good thing especially with the state tournament only 10 days away.”
The Greyhounds are 11-1-2 and play at Westfield on Monday.
