Carmel girls overwhelm Warren

Carmel bounced back from a Tuesday loss in impressive fashion on Friday, overwhelming Warren Central 59-33 in a Metropolitan Conference game at the Warriors’ gym.
The first quarter of the contest ended in a 9-9 tie, but the Class 4A No. 1 Greyhounds started to take control in the second quarter, scoring 15 points to lead 24-15 at halftime. That was a preview for the third period, where Carmel poured in 29 points while allowing Warren just seven, giving the ‘Hounds a 53-22 advantage.
Bridget Dunn had an outstanding game, reaching double-double status with 30 points and 13 rebounds; she also blocked two shots. Hannah Lach threw in three 3-pointers on her way to 11 points and also collected five rebounds. Riley Pennington had seven rebounds and Mackenzie Thomas pulled six.
The ‘Hounds are 1-1 in MIC play and 5-1 overall. Carmel’s next game is Tuesday at Westfield.
