Carmel girls beat Pike

Carmel’s girls basketball team cruised to Metropolitan Conference victory at Pike on Friday, beating the Red Devils 65-33.
The Greyhounds, ranked No. 20 in the IBCA one-class poll, outscored Pike in each of the four quarters, going up 18-10 after the first period and 37-17 at halftime. Carmel then outscored the Red Devils 28-16 in the second half, adding 14 points in both the third and fourth quarters.
Hannah Lach drained four 3-pointers on her way to 20 points, while Emily Roper scored 11 points. Laura Valiente led the rebounds with five and also handed out four assists. Valiente and Sophie Shepherd each had six points.
The ‘Hounds are 5-1 in MIC play and 13-7 overall. Carmel hosts Cathedral on Tuesday.
