To start spring break, the Carmel Police Department is reminding residents they can request an officer to check on their homes while vacationing.

Carmel’s “vacation check” is available throughout the year by filling out an online form.

The department on Friday posted a reminder on social media to mark the start of spring break at Carmel Clay Schools. It runs through April 11.

“If you’re heading out of town, the Carmel Police Department is here to help keep your home safe,” the post said.

After submitting a request, anyone needing to make a change can call police department’s administrative offices from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at (317) 571-2500. Urgent changes during nonbusiness hours need to be called into Hamilton County Public Safety Communications at (317) 571-2580; ask to speak with a Carmel police supervisor on duty.
