Carmel crusies past Roncalli

Carmel blitzed through Roncalli on Friday, cruising to a 15-5, six-inning victory at Hartman Field.

The Royals scored a run in the top of the first inning, but the Greyhounds got it back right away, as Case Sullivan scored on a wild pitch. Carmel then took control in the second inning with five runs and never looked back. Tripp Schroeder hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to send home James Charland, and that was the game-ending run.

Sullivan had a perfect night at the plate, going 4-for-4, including a double. Sullivan batted in three runs and scored two more. Hunter Snow, Schroeder and Drew Fouts all had two hits, Kenny Bruntlett hit a double, and JD Stein and Gabe Mathison each hit a single.

Snow and Fouts each scored three runs, with Snow also driving in three runs. Stein and Schroeder both scored twice, with Mathison and Bruntlett also scoring one. Schroeder batted in two runs, with Stein and Tyler Walkey each getting one RBI.

Cameron Heaney went four innings for the pitching win, striking out seven and allowing just one hit.

Carmel is 6-1 and hosts Noblesville at noon today.
