Carmel Community Players announces next ‘Master Class Monday’

Carmel Community Players (CCP) is offering new educational opportunities for students in grades 6 through 12.

CCP’s Theatre Education Program presents Master Class Mondays. Master Classes occur once a month, each focusing on a specific theatrical skill or trade. Each class is 90 minutes and features hands-on learning experiences taught by experienced artists, performers, and industry professionals. Classes allow students to explore different areas of theatre, learn something new or perfect their developed craft.

Prop Design & Creation
Monday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.
Carmel Friends Church, 651 W. Main St.
Price: $25 per student

All classes are qualified for scholarships per request – email info@carmelplayers.org.

How did they build that prop?! It takes more than just actors to tell a story – it takes a whole crew of people creating the world of the play and the elements that bring it to life. In this class, learn the ins and outs of being a Prop Master, and how to gather the right items for a production. Then take it to the next level, learn the different skills needed for building props from scratch, then put them to the test by making your own.

Materials will be provided. Students will get to take home their own creations.

Meet the instructor

Janowicz

Hannah Janowicz is an independent mixed-media visual artist, SFX makeup artist, costumer, cosplayer, and performer. She graduated from Ball State University with a B.S. in Public Communication and Theatrical Studies, with an emphasis in Arts Administration and Advocacy.

In addition to serving as Carmel Community Players’ Artistic Director, she has worked with a variety of theatres in central Indiana; designed hair and makeup for Shrek The Musical (The Attic Theatre), Doubt: A Parable (Hyperion Players), The Woman in Black (Carmel Community Players), costumes for Radio Mystery Theatre and Much Ado About Nothing (Carmel High School), and created custom props and set decoration for a variety of CCP productions, including Moon Over Buffalo, Violet, True West, and Shipwrecked! An Entertainment.
