Jon Shapiro announced on Tuesday, May 12 his endorsement of Jack Russell for Hamilton Heights School Board At-Large.
Shapiro is a career nonprofit professional with more than 25 years of experience serving youth-focused organizations. He is the parent of a student in the Carmel Clay Schools system and was elected to the Carmel Clay School Board in 2024. He currently serves as President of the board.
“As a school board member myself, I know that doing right by our kids takes more than good intentions – it takes someone who truly understands both the community and the real-world impact of every financial decision we make,” Shapiro said. “Jack Russell is that person. Through his work with OneZone, he’s built deep relationships with our local business community and knows how to make resources work hard. But what really sets Jack apart is that he’s not just a professional advocate, he’s a parent. He has a personal stake, and that matters. Jack will bring the right mix of business sense, community trust, and genuine care for our students to this board. Jack Russell has my wholehearted endorsement for the Hamilton Heights School Board.”
Russell is running on five key priorities: Elevate Academic Excellence, Strengthen School Safety & Well-Being, Inspire Community Connection, Champion Fiscal Responsibility & Operational Excellence, and Foster a Culture of Respect, Accountability & Growth.
“I’m incredibly honored to have Jon’s endorsement,” Russell said. “His leadership and experience in education bring valuable perspective, and I appreciate his confidence in my vision for Hamilton Heights. I’m committed to ensuring our schools continue to provide strong opportunities for every student while remaining connected to our families and community.”
