On Wednesday, Indiana’s U.S. Senators Mike Braun and Todd Young welcomed Hoosier veterans to Washington, D.C. as part of Honor Flight Northeast Indiana. The senators greeted the group of roughly 85 veterans at the World War II Memorial.

The veterans were visiting as part of the Honor Flight program, which provide veterans opportunities for expense-free trips to Washington, D.C. to visit the monuments and memorials that honor their service and sacrifice for our nation.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women that have served our nation, and today I was able to thank a few of our veterans from Indiana personally,” Sen. Braun said. “God bless our veterans!”

“It was a privilege to greet an Honor Flight from Northeast Indiana today in Washington,” Sen. Young said. “The service and stories of these Hoosier veterans is truly inspiring, and we are grateful for each of them.”

Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices. They transport veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials, at no cost to the veterans. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.

Honor Flight Northeast Indiana was founded in 2008 and has conducted over 30 Flights. The organization now arranges four flights per year, with approximately 85 veterans on each flight. In 2019, Sen. Young was able to greet this same Honor Flight at the World War II Memorial and FDR Memorial.
