Boys volleyball: Tigers headed to semifinals

Three Hamilton County boys volleyball teams won regional championships last Saturday.

Fishers hosted Regional 3, and beat Homestead 25-7, 25-16, 25-16 to its sixth consecutive IBVCA regional championship last Saturday. Westfield played the Regional 6 match at Cathedral, defeating Brownsburg 25-8, 25-19, 25-18 for the championship. Hamilton Southeastern hosted Regional 7, and beat Fort Wayne Carroll 25-9, 25-7, 25-15.

The regional winners advanced to the state quarterfinal matches, which were played at the same sites. Fishers beat Brebeuf Jesuit 25-10, 25-16, 25-11 in its quarterfinal. In the other two quarterfinals, Westfield dropped its match to the host Irish 25-11, 25-19, 25-21, while Southeastern fell to Perry Meridian (set scores were not available).

With the victory, the Tigers qualified for the state semifinals, which take place this Saturday at Lafayette Jefferson. The semifinals begin at 2 p.m., with Roncalli taking on Perry Meridian, and Fishers playing Cathedral. The winners play at 7 p.m. that night for the state championship.
