Boys volleyball: Three county teams headed to regionals

The Indiana boys volleyball state tournament began last Saturday, with six Hamilton County teams competing.

For the first time, the tournament opened with a sectional round. Fishers hosted Sectional 2 and won the tournament with two straight-set sweeps. The Tigers beat Lawrence North in the semifinal and Noblesville in the championship; the Millers beat Guerin Catholic in the semifinals in five sets.

Hamilton Southeastern hosted Sectional 4 and won it, beating Warren Central and Bishop Chatard in straight sets. Westfield was the host of Sectional 6, and also was victorious on its home floor. The Shamrocks swept Ben Davis and Carmel in straight sets.

All three teams will play in the regional this Saturday, May 20. Fishers hosts Regional 2 and will play Homestead, while the Royals will host Regional 4, taking on Fort Wayne Carroll. Westfield travels to Cathedral to play in Regional 6, where the ‘Rocks take on Brownsburg. The regional winners will advance to the state quarterfinals, which will be played that same day at their respective regional sites.
