The Hamilton Southeastern boys tennis team opened its season by splitting two matches with county rivals.
On Monday, the Royals beat Westfield 3-2. Southeastern’s No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Myers and Mark Slaninka clinched the victory by winning that match in straight sets. No. 3 singles Otto Lutz and the No. 2 doubles team of Matthew Parker and Matt Meyer also got wins for HSE.
The Shamrocks won the top two singles matches, with No. 1 Parker Kalis and No. 2 Quentin Markle getting straight-set victories.
On Tuesday, Southeastern fell to defending state champion Carmel 4-1. The Greyhounds swept the singles matches, with No. 1 doubles Hayden White and Will Brune also winning. Parker and Meyer got the Royals’ lone win at No. 2 doubles.

The Golden Eagles got win from its first two singles, with No. 1 Wyatt Metzger sweeping his match 6-0, 6-0.
Junior varsity winners for the Guerin Catholic were Ryan McIlvenna, Brady McMullen, and Bradley Getts.
