In a Tuesday all-county boys tennis meet, Guerin Catholic beat Noblesville 3-2.
The Golden Eagles swept all three singles matches, while the Millers won both doubles matches. All of them were hard-fought. In singles, Guerin’s Jacob Hoffman won the No. 1 match in straight sets, with Ty Harrington needing three sets for the No. 2 match. No. 3 Michael Wade won a first set tiebreak, then took the second.
The Millers’ No. 1 doubles team Ben Smith and Evan Voigt also won in straight sets, with the first set going to a tiebreak. At No. 2 doubles, Jackson Nance and Will Graham came back from dropping the first set to win the next two.

Hamilton Heights beat Tipton 4-1 Monday in its Senior Night meet.
No. 2 singles JP Etchison, the Huskies’ lone senior, won his match 6-3, 6-3, while No. 1 doubles Nic Rice and Josh Russell were victorious 6-3, 6-0. No. 3 singles Ben Wolfgang and No. 2 doubles Liam Huss and Jake Martin won by default.
“Tonight was a special night of tennis, celebrating our one senior, JP Etchison,” said Davis. “He earned his hard fought win tonight. I couldn’t be more proud of everything JP has accomplished this year. His record may not show it, but he was worked very hard to get where he is today; both on and off the tennis court. As for Aiden, I was happy to see that he figured out a way to make the second set much more competitive than the first set. Nic and Josh, after a slow start, they found their way back to playing the way they have been most of the season; with an attacking mindset.”
On Tuesday, Heights lost to Lapel 5-0. All of the matches were decided in straight sets, although Wolfgang extended the first set to a tiebreak before falling 7-6 (2), 6-2.
The Huskies junior varsity team also lost to Lapel, 4-3, gaining victories from Drew Pennington and Sam Dodson in singles and the team of Grant Cavanaugh and Camden Crawford in doubles.
“Lapel is always great competition and I’m proud of the way we played against them, both varsity and JV,” said Davis. “The score may not have shown the effort each of our players gave out there tonight; they all fought very hard. It was good to compete against a strong Lapel team in order to prepare us for the rest of this week, into next week, and for everyone moving forward in their tennis careers.”
Westfield defeated Lapel 4-1 in a Monday meet.
No. 2 Connor Housefield and No. 3 Brett Barnes picked up singles wins for the Shamrocks, while No. 1 Connor Maris and Harrison Sindelar and No. 2 Alex Mullet and WeiBin Cheah each had doubles victories.
