The Sheridan boys soccer team got a solid win on Saturday, beating Western Boone 3-0.
After a scoreless first half, the Blackhawks put in all three goals in the second half. Kyle Eden scored the first goal in the 51st minute, then Axel Aleman found the back of the net in the 63rd minute. Walker Casler scored Sheridan’s third goal with 11:26 left.
The Blackhawks battled hard throughout the game with strong defense, giving goalkeeper Nick Roberts some breaks as he had 12 saves.
Sheridan will host Irving Preparatory Academy on Monday, after the Blackhawks girls team plays University. The girls game begins at 5 p.m., with the boys to follow at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Carmel dropped a 3-2 Metropolitan Conference game to Ben Davis on Saturday.
Juniors Jackson Hoover and Monish Pandey each scored a goal for the Class 3A No. 15 Greyhounds, who are now 4-2-8 for the season. Senior Jack Gerard and junior Drew Finkam both had one assist.
“Today was just not our day,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt. “We worked hard and controlled the game. It was just one of those days.”
