Boys basketball: Golden Eagles’ strong start pushes them to victory

A strong start propelled the Guerin Catholic boys basketball team to a win at Muncie Central on Wednesday.

The Class 3A No. 4 Golden Eagles beat the Bearcats 58-33. Guerin Catholic led 21-5 after one quarter, then rolled to a 34-14 halftime advantage. The Golden Eagles enjoyed their largest lead in the third period at 46-19 before ending that quarter ahead 49-23.

Bryson Cardinal had an outstanding game, reaching double-double status with 30 points and 12 rebounds. Cardinal hit three 3-pointers during the contest. Carter Murans collected six rebounds.

Guerin Catholic is 2-0 and plays Saturday at Hamilton Heights.
