Both Indiana teams win at home during Saturday’s All-Stars shootout

The Indiana All-Stars played to a split last weekend with the Kentucky All-Stars in the 2023 edition of the annual series.

The series moved to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Saturday, and the Indiana team won both games. The girls team won 71-67, in what was a close game throughout. Hamilton Southeastern’s Makalusky played nearly nine minutes; she is headed to Butler University this fall.

The boys were victorious 95-74. Indiana scored the game’s first 17 points, then held off a Kentucky run to lead 39-33 at halftime. Indiana then rolled through the second half by outscoring Kentucky 56-41.

Noblesville’s Luke Almodovar, a University of Saint Francis recruit, had a solid game, scoring 15 points (including three 3-pointers), two rebounds and one assist. Carmel’s Sam Orme, headed to Belmont collected five rebounds to go with four points, one assist and one steal.

Prior to the All-Stars game, Gainbridge hosted the Indiana Futures games, and both the girls and boys contests featured several Hamilton County players. The players were divided into the North team and the South team.

In the girls game, the North team beat the South team 73-63. Hamilton Southeastern’s Maya Makalusky scored 15 points and also had three rebounds, one assist and one steal. Hamilton Heights’ Camryn Runner had three rebounds, two points, two steals and one assist.

Noblesville had two players on the South team. Meredith Tippner collected 10 rebounds to go with six points and two steals, while Reagan Wilson added three points, three rebounds and two assists.

The South boys beat the North boys 100-96. Two county boys played on the North team: University’s Sabien Cain scored 17 points, pulled six rebounds, dished out four assists and made two steals. Westfield’s Trey Buchanan added 10 points and four rebounds.
