Sheridan’s girls team got a dominating win on Tuesday, overwhelming Western 87-31 at Hobbs Memorial Hall.
The Blackhawks took care of business from the beginning, leading 20-4 after the first quarter and 47-17 at halftime. Sheridan outscored the Panthers by at least 10 points in each period.
“I was very pleased with the demeanor tonight,” said ‘Hawks coach Jeff Guenther. “I felt like we took it seriously. We were enthusiastic. We were involved. All 12 kids from the start, until the horn went off, and that’s all you can ask of them.”
Audrey Reed led Sheridan with 29 points, including 13 in the second quarter. Heather Barker added 11 points. Emma Went played well, scoring all seven of her points in the fourth period. Ten different Blackhawks scored.
“It’s not about the points, it’s about the effort,” said Guenther. “And it’s about playing with the right attitude. It’s about being a good teammate. It’s about putting the team first and I felt like we really did that tonight.”
Sheridan is now 9-4 for the season. The ‘Hawks are off until Wednesday, Dec. 27, when they travel to Lapel.
