Bill Doig, 89, of Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born on August 26, 1927 to the late William and Dorothy (Cruft) Doig in Indianapolis.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy in 1945 and 1946. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1949 and a Master’s degree in 1953 in School Administration from Butler University. Bill was a teacher and coach for Clark Township Schools from 1949 to 1952, a principal, teacher, coach, guidance counselor and athletic director for Waldron Schools from 1952 to 1970 and an assistant principal for Noblesville Schools from 1970 to 1990. He was a member of First Christian Church of Noblesville, where he also served as a deacon. Bill was an Eagle Scout, a member of Lambda Chi Fraternity and a 50-year member of Waldron Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jean (Templin) Doig; son, William Alan Doig (wife Leslie); daughter, Lisa Lynn Phillips (husband Darrell); three grandchildren, William Garnett Doig, Anne Nicole Phillips and Allison Leigh Phillips; and two great-grandchildren, Ava Ailene Doig and Bremley Lynn Doig.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at First Christian Church of Noblesville, 16377 Herriman Blvd., Noblesville, with visitation from 11 a.m. to the time of service. Pastor John Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
