Arvin R. Foland

April 17, 1940 – August 15, 2017

Arvin R. Foland, 77, of Westfield, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on April 17, 1940 to the late Robert and Florence (Blazier) Foland in Noblesville.

Arvin was a lifelong resident of Noblesville and practiced law since 1968. He received a B.S. degree from Purdue University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Indiana University. Arvin held memberships in the Hamilton County and Indiana State Bar Associations, as well as the Christian Law Association (CLA) and was a Marion County and Hamilton County Deputy Prosecutor. Arvin was a member of Lakeview Wesleyan Church where he taught Sunday School. He was a member of The Gideons International and the NRA. Arvin was very active in the Republican Party and was the Washington Township Chairman for several years. He also served on the Westfield School Board for more than 16 years and taught at Westfield and Carmel schools. Arvin’s #1 loves were Church, Gideons and Grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lillian Kennedy Foland. They raised two sons, Brent Foland of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Robert C. (Sheila) Foland of Elwood, Ind.; and two grandchildren, Robert F. Foland and Margaret Foland. Arvin is also survived by grandchildren, Easter Foland and Grace Foland; brother, Cosden (Doreen) Foland of Scottsburg, Ind.; and sisters, Carolyn (Donald) Mendell of Lebanon, Ind., and Marilyn (Mark) Kendall of Crothersville, Ind..

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Lakeview Wesleyan Church, 396 Park Street in Noblesville, with Dr. Richard Schenck and Rev. Carol Schenck officiating. Burial will be at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield.
