The Westfield baseball team had a nice start to the week with two victories.
On Monday, the Shamrocks traveled to Kokomo and won 3-0. Westfield began with a run in the first inning: Brayden Hibler led off with a right field hit, moved to second base on a wild pitch, stole third base then scored on an error.
The ‘Rocks added two runs in the sixth inning. Collin Lindsey led off with a bunt hit, went to second base on an error, stole third base, then was brought home by Matt Drozlek’s sacrifice fly. Nick Alm then singled in Evan Russ for Westfield’s third run.
Collin Lindsey finished the game with two hits. Preston Tamm went four and a third innings for the win, striking out five and allowing just one hit. Nathan Bodenberg got the save, with three strikeouts and no hits allowed.
The Shamrocks were back home on Wednesday, hosting Avon in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game. Westfield won 3-2.
The Shamrocks again scored a run in the first inning, with Drew Law getting home on an error. Westfield got two more runs in the fourth inning: Hibler drove in Tyler Gentry with a left field hit, then later scored on a wild pitch.
Drozlek hit a first-inning double. Ty Anderson pitched a complete game, striking out four against three hits and one walk.
The Shamrocks are 8-5 in conference play and 15-9 overall, and finish HCC play tonight at Avon.

Carmel got a walkoff win over Mount Vernon, 3-2 Monday at Hartman Field.
The Greyhounds scored two runs in the fifth inning. Drew Fouts got home when Hunter Snow was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, then Gabe Mathison scored on a Case Sullivan sacrifice fly.
The Marauders tied the game with two runs in the top of the seventh. Carmel scored the winning run with one out: Mathison hit a single, then was brought home by a JD Stein double, Stein’s second hit of the game.
Tyler Walkey also hit a double. Mathison pitched six innings for the win, striking out five.
The Greyhounds are 15-7 and play tonight at Kokomo.

Fishers rebounded from being shut out on Monday to getting an HCC shutout win on Wednesday.
The Tigers got their conference win at Brownsburg, 3-0. Fishers scored one run in the first inning, when Jack Brown stole home plate.
The Tigers added two more runs in the sixth inning: Noah McPeek led off with a single, advanced to second base on a passed ball, then moved to third base on Brown’s base hit. McPeek then scored on an error. Later, Brown got home when Huston Dunn reached on error.
Brown had a spectacular game for Fishers. He was 3-for-4 at the plate, and pitched a complete game, striking out 11 against three hits and one walk. McPeek was 2-for-3.
In their Monday game, the Tigers lost to Columbus North 5-0. Fishers was held to one hit, a single by Quinn Seefeldt.
Fishers is 9-4 in HCC play and 18-11 overall. The Tigers host Brownsburg today to finish HCC and regular-season play.

Hamilton Heights dropped a 7-1 game to Kokomo on Tuesday.
The Huskies scored their run in the fifth inning. John Irion sent a hit into left field, moved to third base on a Dillon Pitts double, then got home on an Alex Rickey bunt.
Heights is 12-8 and plays a doubleheader with Frankfort on Saturday morning.

Hamilton Southeastern fell to Center Grove 6-1 in a Tuesday away game.
The Royals scored their run in the seventh inning, when Michael Hoog batted in Clayton Wilke with a right field hit.
Three Southeastern players hit doubles: Zack Wagner, Cole Earlewine and Ty Bradle.
The Royals are 12-14 and host Franklin Central tonight to begin an HCC series.

Sheridan dropped two games this week at the Hoosier Heartland Conference tournament.
On Monday, the Blackhawks lost to Carroll 5-0. Camden Spencer hit a double. Luke Inman threw four strikeouts in three innings of relief.
Sheridan played Clinton Central on Tuesday and fell 6-5. The Bulldogs scored a run in the top of the second inning, but the ‘Hawks rebounded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Gavin Schwerdtfeger batted in all three runs with a right field hit; Camden Spencer, Cole Mackintosh and Chance Spencer all scored.
Clinton Central scored three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-3 lead. Sheridan tied the game in the bottom of the fourth when Mackintosh was brought in by Caleb Alexander’s RBI groundout.
A two-run home run put the Bulldogs ahead 6-4 in the top of the fifth inning. The Blackhawks got a run back in the bottom of the fifth: Zach Bales led off with a triple, after which Braelan Bochner came in to run for him. Camden Spencer doubled Bochner home.
Camden Spencer and Bales both finished with two hits. Sebastian Salazar pitched five innings, striking out 10 and allowing three hits.
Sheridan is 8-15 for the season.
