The University baseball team won its own inaugural Trailblazer Classic last Saturday with two run-rule games.
University defeated Clinton Central 12-2 in a six-inning semifinal. Jimmy Caldwell hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning while Mark Hamby, Beckett Suh and Jasper Owens each hit one double. Hamby went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Suh drove in three runs. Ryan Castetter hit a single to score Oliver Kingery in the sixth inning for the game-ending run.
The Blazers cruised past Wes-Del 14-2 in a five-inning championship game. University put up 11 runs in the first inning, with Suh connecting on a three-run homer. Castetter and Cooper Burnett also scored on that home run; Castetter earlier hit a two-run double.
Castetter and Suh both finished with three RBIs. Castetter got the pitching win.
The Trailblazers are 7-4-1 and host Lapel on Tuesday, followed by three games over the weekend.

Guerin Catholic collected two victories at the Catholic Classic last Saturday.
The Golden Eagles first beat Highland 7-4. Cuinn Morrow got Guerin Catholic on the board with a left field double to score Bryson Dorsey, then Morrow was sent home by a Grant Beard double.
Highland tied the game in the fourth inning, but the Golden Eagles scored five in the fifth. AJ Nunley got home when Davis Wagner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Tate Troxell then doubled in Ian Taylor and Nolan Ratcliff, and Dorsey followed that with a single to bring in Wagner and Troxell.
Guerin Catholic totaled seven doubles, including two from Beard. Dorsey and Taylor also hit doubles, in addition to the above-mentioned players. Finn Holden got the pitching win in relief, while starter Vaughn Schwietert threw five strikeouts in four innings.
The Golden Eagles blasted host LCC 13-0 in five innings for their second game of the day. Troxell smacked a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Ratcliff counted a triple among his two hits, while Taylor had two doubles during a 3-for-3 game. Dorsey and Beard both hit one double. Ryan Zimmerman threw four strikeouts for the win.
The Golden Eagles are 9-2. They play a Circle City Conference series with Heritage Christian to start the week, hosting the Eagles on Monday before playing at Heritage on Tuesday. Guerin Catholic plays at Carmel on Thursday.

Fishers won two games last Saturday while playing at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette.
First, the Tigers defeated Lafayette Jefferson 5-4. Both teams scored two runs in the first inning; Fishers’ Evan Doran hit a two-run single to bring in Deagan Repp and Huston Dunn.
In the third inning, Dunn batted in Repp with a right field hit. The Bronchos went up 4-3 after five innings, but the Tigers scored twice in the seventh: Repp doubled Owen Lukac home for the tying run, then Dunn’s right field hit brought in Repp for the go-ahead score.
Repp was 3-for-4 at the plate. Starter Hayden Werner threw five innings with six strikeouts, then Owen Sanders relieved him and got the win, tossing three strikeouts over two innings.
Fishers took care of Twin Lakes 7-3 in its second game. The Tigers put up four runs in the first inning: Dunn doubled Repp home, then scored when Doran drew a bases-loaded walk. Trevor Hall’s center field hit brought Noah McPeek in to score, then Ben Hammond got home on Ethan Gardner’s RBI groundout.
Gardner scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning, and Lukac scored seconds later when Dunn reached on error. Brady Carman doubled Gardner home for a fifth inning run.
Hammond hit a third inning double. Jace Johnson went five innings for the win, striking out five.
Fishers is 10-6 and plays the Mudsock series this week with Hamilton Southeastern.

Hamilton Heights swept a doubleheader at Elwood last Saturday.
The Huskies won the first game 11-0 in six innings. Dean Mason was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run, a double and two singles for a total of four RBIs. Phoenix Vondersaar and Nick Hulen both had two hits. Gavin Thomas and Levi Chandler combined for a no-hitter; Chandler threw six strikeouts and got the win.
Heights overwhelmed Elwood 24-6 in a five-inning second game. The Huskies scored 23 runs in the first two innings.
Mason was again 4-for-4 at the plate, including two home runs, and drove in eight runs while scoring four. Vondersaar, John Irion and Logan Hickman each hit one double. Adam Hughes went 3-for-3, while Vondersaar and Irion both batted in three runs. Kyle Michael scored five runs, with Vondersaar and Hickman scoring three each. Owen Robey got the pitching win.
Heights is 5-5 and plays five games this week, starting with a trip to Noblesville on Monday. The Huskies play a Hoosier Conference East series with Northwestern this week, hosting the Tigers on Tuesday before traveling to Northwestern on Wednesday.

Hamilton Southeastern beat Lapel 5-3 last Saturday.
The Bulldogs led 2-0 after two innings. The Royals scored a third inning run when Colin Goley led off with a double, then got home on Luke Sivak’s RBI groundout. Southeastern surged ahead with four runs in the fifth inning: Goley batted in Evan Haas, then scored on Alex Billman’s sacrifice fly. Maddux Bach doubled Dylan Cope and Sawyer Kiehl to complete the scoring.
Jake Payne got the win in relief with four strikeouts over three innings. Starter Nate McGrath struck out eight in four innings.
Southeastern is 7-6 and plays the Mudsock series with Fishers this week.

Carmel dropped a doubleheader to Louisville Trinity last Saturday.
The Greyhounds fell 8-7 in a nine-inning first game. Hunter Snow was 3-for-4 at the plate, including a home run and a double. He totaled three RBIs. Max Winders went seven innings, striking out 12.
Trinity won the second game 5-0, holding Carmel to two hits: A triple from Gabe Mathison and a single for Tyler Walkey.
Carmel is 9-3 and plays Monday at Avon.
