Welcome to The Omnibus Show, the program for people who are interested in everything, with deep conversations on a wide variety of subjects.
The Omnibus Show, which premiered Monday, is a new podcast started by Dave Gibbs.
“The Omnibus Show is for people who love interviews of interesting and accomplished people, and who are life learners,” Gibbs said.
After graduating from Indiana University, Gibbs started as a journalist and photographer; he worked all over Indiana, the Pacific Northwest, and the Chicago area. His late father, John, was the Executive Producer for City Desk at WMAQ-TV (NBC) Chicago, which was a decades-long interview show between top reporters and celebrities, people, and politicians with ties to Chicago.
In explaining his thought process, Gibbs said, “Most people are very busy with their lives. And, while there are many popular podcast programs that go up to two and three hours, most people only have time for short bits of media. They want substantive content. The purpose of this show is to get a brief story of the guest, to learn from the wisdom of their experience, and to learn what’s next for them.”
Gwendolyn Rogers was the first guest on The Omnibus Show. As owner of Cake Bake Shop, she has two locations in Indiana – one in Broad Ripple and the other in Carmel – with a third coming to The Boardwalk at Walt Disney World in 2023. She says she has always loved baking.
After getting married and raising three boys, Rogers set out on her vision. After winning on the UK.’s The Cake & Bake Show with her Earl’s Court chocolate cake, she started her first shop in Broad Ripple, then upon its success, a second in Carmel. She has made these destination locations and has made cakes for many celebrities and everyday people. She’s been featured in the Food Network’s Guilty Pleasures and O, The Oprah Magazine’s Favorite Things List, among other recognition and honors.
This past week, Gibbs interviewed World Premiere playwright Samuel Garza Bernstein. His musical Mr. Confidential premieres April 28 at The Studio Theatre at The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel. This episode will air on April 10.
Most recently, Garza Bernstein was the Co-Showrunner and Co-Executive Producer of the third season of six-time Emmy Award-winning After Forever, dropping Spring 2023 on Amazon. He is also working on books on Joan Crawford and Cesar Romero. His pilot for The Secret World of Danny Lopez was a drama winner at the New York Film Awards and a Content London International Drama Summit nominee for Best Pilot Script.
Eric Nevins, the host of the Halfway There podcast and founder of the Christian Podcasters Association, will be the next guest on The Omnibus Show on April 17.
