Are you curious about what it’s really like to work in law enforcement? The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is now accepting applications for the Fall 2025 Citizens Academy, a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at how deputies serve and protect the community.
This engaging, 12-week program invites residents and people who work in Hamilton County to step into the world of law enforcement through interactive training and firsthand experiences, including:
- Mock traffic stops and scenario-based exercises: step into the role of an officer in realistic situations
- Criminal investigations and case law: explore how cases are built and handled legally
- Firearms training: learn about gun safety and tactical applications at the range
- Patrol vehicle operations: drive a patrol car on a controlled driving course
- … and much more
Program schedule
- Dates: Sept. 4 to Nov. 20
- Time: Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
- Cost: Free to attend
Who can apply?
- Must be 18 or older
- Must live or work in Hamilton County
- No felony convictions; no misdemeanors within the past year (background checks required)
- Must be able to attend all sessions and sign required waivers
