Anita A. Klasing

September 19, 1935 – August 23, 2023

Anita A. Klasing, 87, Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Allisonville Meadows in Fishers. She was born on September 19, 1935, to Dewey and Myrtle (Watkins) Allen in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Anita was a 1959 Southeast Missouri State University graduate. She was an administrative assistant for an insurance agent and before that an editor for a trade magazine. When her children were young, she watched them play baseball and softball at St. Albans and the swim club, Mackinac. Anita liked playing card games, especially Euchre, Bridge, and Pinochle. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading, and going to the river. Anita was a huge St. Louis Cardinals, Colts, and IU basketball fan. She volunteered for Indiana Donor Network (formerly IOPO) and loved spending time with friends. Anita liked to attend the Symphony on the Prairie, Symphony Coffee Pops, and listening to her sister play piano. She was a devoted sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother, and loved her family most of all.

She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Russell) Stwalley and Leslie (Eddie) Zelek; son, John (Shareen) Klasing; grandchildren, Steven Klasing, Johnny Klasing, Charlotte Klasing, and Reed Stwalley; nieces and nephews, Tom Phillips, Hap Phillips, Sally Harris, Suzy Ward, Jim Klasing, and Lee Klasing; and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Klasing; sister, Betty Phillips; niece, Sally Schroer; and nephew, Scott Klasing.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
