Anderson Museum of Art issues callout for “Figures of Speech” exhibition

The Anderson Museum of Art (AMOA) seeks submissions for its annual Figures of Speech exhibition. For the 14th consecutive year, AMOA will play host to this exhibition, which uses all the classic “Figures of Speech” to develop works of art.

Digital entries are due Monday, June 30. The Opening Reception is set for 6 to 8 p.m. on First Friday, Aug. 1. The exhibition dates are Aug. 1 to Sept. 10.

Figures of Speech is open to all artists 18 years or older in the Midwest (Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin). This exhibit is focused on utilizing all the classic figures of speech to develop works of art. Examples include “Birds of a Feather Flock Together” or “When Pigs Fly.” The following media are accepted: works on paper, paintings, contemporary conceptual photography, mixed media, and sculpture.
