American military history, firsthand

Photo provided

Last Friday, June 26, local veterans organizations and the public gathered for an old-fashioned storytelling event to celebrate America’s birthday and learn about military history. The event was held at the Carmel American Legion Post 155, 852 W. Main St., with Kathryn Lerch serving as moderator. Some of the stories included women in the military since the 1970s, changes in technology and communication, rescuing prisoners of war, various assignments in worldwide locations, using military training in civilian endeavors, and more. Thank you to everyone who helped organize this gathering.
