Award-winning Actors Theatre of Indiana – Hamilton County’s only professional Equity theatre company and the resident professional theatre company at The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel – will partner in a groundbreaking theatrical production of A Christmas Carol this holiday season.
In conjunction with TBD Pictures and Broadway Producer Hunter Arnold, ATI will present a Pay-Per-View airing of the Charles Dickens classic. Directed by Michael Arden and starring Tony Award winner Jefferson Mays, viewers can expect a fresh perspective to Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and the rest, as Mays plays every role.
Part of the mission at TBD Pictures is developing new works and fostering future generations of theater audiences, and the work done at Actors Theatre of Indiana is a vital component in that process. However, pursuing that mission has been especially difficult as many theatres are having to cancel their season and programming. To help support the national theatrical community, TBD Pictures has partnered with Actors Theatre of Indiana in creating a program that can provide revenue to theaters as well as deliver holiday content to theatergoers.
TBD Pictures is a New York City-based theatrical production company owned by Tony Award-winning producer Hunter Arnold (Dear Evan Hansen, Hadestown, Once On The Island and Anastasia). This unique presentation is directed by Michael Arden (Once On This Island and Deaf West Theatre’s Spring Awakening). Tony Award winner Jefferson Mays (I Am My Own Wife, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love And Murder) is acting out each role of the classic.
The production will be available for on-demand streaming from Nov. 28, 2020 through Jan. 3, 2021. Tickets will cost $50 per household and will be available at ATIstage.org. At least $20 from every ticket sold goes right back to ATI.
This production of A Christmas Carol is unlike any other, past, present or future. It is a must-watch streaming event that conjures the chills and thrills of this ghostly tale and brings all the magic of live theatre to your home for the holidays.
The Hollywood Reporter declares, “It’s a towering achievement! You’ve seen it before, but not like this.” And the Los Angeles Times raves, “Mays is a rare gem and Arden is ingenious. For true theater lovers, there can be no better gift this season.”
